Frequently Asked Questions

Find answers below to common questions from pet owners and veterinary teams about mobile endoscopy, tele-advice, outpatient procedures, and collaborative care with Music City Pet Internal Medicine.

FAQ - Pet Owners

  • My pet needs an endoscopy, but Music City Pet IM hasn’t worked with my primary vet before. What should I do?

No problem! You can submit a consultation request directly through our website. We’ll start with a virtual tele-advice session to confirm your pet is a good candidate for mobile veterinary endoscopy. Once confirmed, we’ll coordinate with your primary veterinarian to arrange the procedure.

  • My vet’s office can’t accommodate the endoscopy, even though my pet was approved. What are my options?

If your veterinary clinic isn’t equipped for or able to accommodate the procedure, we may be able to meet at a partner location in Franklin or Murfreesboro. Our mobile veterinary services are designed to be flexible and accessible across the greater Nashville area.

  • Can I request a consult directly, or does my veterinarian need to refer me?

Yes, pet owners can request a virtual tele-advice session without a referral. These sessions offer expert guidance on internal medicine conditions and diagnostic procedure recommendations, but they do not replace in-person veterinary care and do not include prescriptions. Your family veterinarian remains in charge.

  • How should I prepare my pet for an endoscopy or outpatient procedure?

Most procedures require an overnight fast: no breakfast the morning of the procedure, but water is always allowed. If additional preparation is needed, we’ll provide clear instructions tailored to your pet’s needs.

  • Will I get to speak with the veterinary specialist directly?

Absolutely. Whether through virtual consultation or post-procedure communication, you’ll have direct access to Dr. Larson to discuss your pet’s care and next steps.

FAQ - Veterinary Teams

  • How do I request a consult with Music City Pet IM for a patient case?

You can submit a consult request online, via text, or by email. We offer flexible options to support your practice with mobile internal medicine and outpatient procedures.

  • What veterinary procedures and services do you offer?

We provide direct virtual tele-advice sessions for pet owners and veterinarians, collaborative virtual consultations with both the referring veterinarian and client, mobile endoscopy services, and clinical coaching for veterinary teams.

  • What equipment does MCPIM bring, and what do we need to provide?

For onsite endoscopy, we bring the endoscope and typically an experienced technician. Your clinic provides anesthesia equipment, determines the protocol, supplies necessary drugs and consumables and a technician to administer & monitor.

  • How are diagnostic results and treatment plans delivered?

If we send out testing, we’ll receive the results and provide a written interpretation along with a revised treatment plan. These are shared with both the referring veterinarian and the pet owner via email, often followed by a phone call or additional communication.

  • Who coordinates the procedure scheduling?

Scheduling is a collaborative effort. Typically, the pet owner drops off the patient at your clinic, similar to a dental procedure. We perform the procedure, speak with the pet owner before discharge (by phone or in person), and you’ll discharge the pet with the instructions we provide.
