FAQ - Pet Owners
-
What types of cases do you work with?
Dr. Larson is a board‑certified veterinary internal medicine specialist, so she focuses on pets with complex or unresolved medical concerns. This often includes issues like chronic gastrointestinal disease, unexplained weight loss, thyroid or adrenal disorders (such as hyperthyroidism or Cushing’s disease), and other long‑term or difficult‑to‑diagnose conditions.
Her role is to help you understand what may be going on and what questions to discuss with your primary veterinarian.
-
Can I schedule tele-advice without a referral?
Yes, pet owners can request a virtual tele-advice session without a referral. These sessions offer expert guidance on internal medicine conditions and diagnostic procedure recommendations, but they do not replace in-person veterinary care and do not include prescriptions. Your family veterinarian remains in charge.
-
What is tele‑advice?
Tele‑advice is a remote consultation where Dr. Larson reviews your pet’s history, symptoms, and available test results to help you understand what may be happening and what questions to ask your veterinarian. It is not a diagnosis or treatment plan. -
Can you interpret my pet’s ultrasound?
Ultrasound interpretation is available when your veterinarian provides the images or video clips. Dr. Larson reviews the study and provides a clear, written interpretation that your veterinarian can use to guide next steps.
-
Do you offer second opinions?
Yes. Dr. Larson can review your pet’s medical history, lab work, and imaging to provide an additional perspective. All findings are shared with your primary veterinarian to support continuity of care. -
Do you offer in‑person appointments?
No. All support from Dr. Larson is provided remotely or through your primary veterinarian.

Can I consult on a case before referring to a specialist?
Absolutely. Many veterinarians use tele‑advice to clarify next steps, determine whether referral is needed, or manage cases in‑house with more confidence.
-
What types of skills can our team learn during a coaching session?
Training is tailored to your hospital’s needs and may include ultrasound basics and POCUS, introductory endoscopy, glucose monitor placement, feeding tube placement and care, FMT via enema, proctoscopy, nasal biopsy, endotracheal wash techniques, and more. If it falls within internal medicine scope, Dr. Larson can build it into your session.
-
Do we need special equipment for training?
Most sessions use your clinic’s existing equipment. If an affordable add‑on would meaningfully expand your capabilities, Dr. Larson will advise you during the pre‑visit planning process.
-
Do you offer one‑on‑one training or only group sessions?
Both. You can schedule half‑day or full‑day sessions for individuals or small groups, depending on your goals and staffing.
-
What does the on‑site training day look like?
Training includes step‑wise demonstrations, hands‑on practice, real‑time feedback, and case‑based discussion. The goal is to build confidence, standardize technique, and ensure your team can apply their new skills immediately and with confidence.
