How Tele-Advice Works

Initial Inquiry

You reach out, and we help confirm your pet is a good candidate for Tele-Advice by discussing a few key questions. This ensures the consultation is appropriate and avoids unnecessary fees.

Scheduling

We will coordinate with you to find a convenient time for a phone or video consultation.

Assessment

You and Dr. Larson will discuss your pet’s history, current condition, and any recommendations.

The Plan

A written summary is then provided to you, outlining any recommendations such as diagnostics or treatments, or, in some cases, specialized procedures like endoscopy.

What's Included in a Tele-Advice Review?

While this service is often confused with telemedicine, it’s important to note that Music City Pet Internal Medicine’s Tele-Advice is not a telemedicine service and does not establish a veterinary-client-patient relationship (VCPR).

In accordance with Tennessee law, Tele-Advice is limited to non-diagnostic, non-prescriptive guidance and cannot replace in-person veterinary care.

Here’s what Tele-Advice can offer:

  • Review of your pet’s current medications and dosing: including collaborative discussion of side effects, timing, and long-term use

  • Follow-up support for chronic or previously diagnosed conditions: helping you understand next steps and monitor progress

  • Interpretation of lab results and imaging: offering clarity on tests performed by a veterinarian

  • Nutrition and wellness planning: tailored to your pet’s medical history and lifestyle needs

  • Guidance on at-home monitoring: including behavioral observations, symptom tracking, and comfort care strategies

  • Client education focused on preventive health and chronic conditions: empowering you with knowledge to support your pet’s well-being between visits

Mobile Endoscopy

Pet endoscopy is a minimally invasive diagnostic procedure that uses a long, flexible tube called an endoscope, or “scope”. The endoscope contains a tiny camera and light, allowing our board-certified internal medicine specialist to view a pet’s internal organs, such as the stomach, intestines, nasal passages, lungs, or bladder, without the need for incisions.

Endoscopy may be recommended if a pet is experiencing the following:

  • Persistent diarrhea or unexplained weight loss

  • Chronic vomiting in dogs or cats

  • Poor appetite or signs of gastrointestinal distress

  • Suspected foreign body ingestion (when a pet eats something they shouldn’t)

  • Chronic respiratory issues, like nasal discharge or coughing

  • Unresolved urinary problems requiring bladder visualization

Dr. Larson performs an endoscopy procedure on a canine pet patient at a local partner hospital.

How Mobile Endoscopy Works

Consult Request

Start by submitting a request through our website. You’ll describe your pet’s condition, list your family vet, and give consent for us to request records. You can also upload any you already have. This helps us assess if endoscopy might be appropriate.

Records Review

We’ll contact your vet to request records and confirm key details. Our team will review the case to determine if endoscopy is indicated.

Coordination

If your pet is a good candidate, we’ll reach out to confirm and answer questions. We’ll also contact your vet to see if they can host the procedure and offer scheduling options through their office.

Scheduling

Your vet will help finalize the date. Once booked, we’ll send prep instructions by email, including fasting guidelines and what to expect.

Procedure Day

Dr. Larson will meet your pet and vet at the clinic. After a brief exam, the procedure is performed using hospital-grade equipment. Most pets go home the same day.

Results Review

Results are usually ready within a week. We’ll send a written summary to you and your vet. In some cases, your vet may prefer to review the findings with you first.

Our goal is to diagnose and treat your pet’s internal medicine concerns with minimal discomfort and maximum clarity!
